Management: The hows

I've always thought, management was the process of organising people into functional, productive individuals. And ensuring that these tasks are assigned to those who are best suited for their roles and driving them to connect to the business's goal over all. Like a body with organs, functioning together to make you and I live. It appears to me, however, I've stumbled onto some sort of a revelation, probably a little late. I think I realised that management is also the ability to manage yourself, first and foremost. And to use your power responsibly, ethically and ensuring that, while your own staff may be working together, you are not sabotaging their work by being counter productive. An unappreciative boss is a demotivating rotten apple. And so would be the angry, fuming man that you need to meet every day. And a care free one, may allow you to step out of the box, but when you return you may find that the box has disappeared. A mixed one may confuse you, and if you're

Fidel

It's a rainy Saturday night, and I'm home nursing a hangover. I thank my stars I can afford to have, buttered sweet potatoes & sweet corn, then ice cream and not feel guilty about the carb-fat overdose. More importantly, up on the completion of a nice little movie called Marley & Me, that makes you laugh a majority of the movie, and I don't know about you, but I start crying as the movie ends, uncontrollably every time I watch it, and go find Fidel. I'm happy to see my little man curled up on the sofa, warm and asleep. I giv e him a hug, and he wakes up wanting a belly rub. A night like this, I'm happy to indulg e him. He gives me a lick, runs to the bathroom for a quick toilet b reak and stretc he s out on the floor to continue sleeping/snoring. From the movie: "Dogs do n't care if you're rich or poor, don't care about a new car or home. Give them your heart and they will give you theirs. How many people can you say that about?"

Presenting to all.. the array of Malaysian food that I had the pleasure of hogging on my trip there. Unfortunately this isn't an extensive list of everything that's on the menu, nor even everything that I ate. But I do know a lot of people are heading over there, and well, here are a few... Cincau & Soya Bean Milk Kuih Muih- Available in a stalls along the road or grocery shops, night and day markets. Not as sweet as Indian sweets but filling desserts. Roast Chicken Rice- Normally served with rice & sambal with soup. Roti Canai (Chanai)- Close relative of the Malabar Parota or the Kerala Parota Nasi Lemak Chicken. Putu Mayam- Served with grated coconut and jaggery (gula melaka). Claypot Mutton Curry Nasi Lemak Rendang Four Heavanly Vegetables- tossed around in chilli sambal. Chicken soup with Old Cucumber.
